Where do you get your ideas?

That question, “Where do you get your ideas?” is the bane of every author. Now, admittedly, the stuff we do can be odd, but that’s part of the fun of the job. We get to take multiple ideas and jam them together into something new. If we do it well, readers are baffled and entertained.

So I was surfing the web and caught a story about the woman without a face. I mean, is that a title just waiting to have a story stuffed under it or what? I checked the story out and it’s even better than I expected. Police in Germany have a string of burglaries and murders, and the only evidence they have concerning the criminal is a bunch of DNA evidence. That’s one of the ways they know it’s a woman. And as things go along, it looks as if she moves from being a sloppy burglar who kills to cover her tracks, to a cop-killing assassin dabbling in murder for hire and terrorism.

I’m sure I’ll do something with this notion. It’s possible I could base a character on her. Others might do a whole book on her, which would be cool.

Chances are, however, it’s the title: The Woman Without A Face.

Inspiration at its finest.
